Posted on February 24, 2013 | 6 Comments | This post has 295 viewsIt's been quite some time since I started this blog and I am happy to announce that it has just successfully managed to pass its 4th birthday! The past year has been an especially turbulent year...
Posted on October 26, 2012 | 4 Comments | This post has 762 viewsAbout a year ago, Volks introduced the completely redesigned Dollfie Dream Type III body as a replacement to the Dollfie Dream Type II body. The type III body promised increased articulation, the ability for the arm to hold up heavy objects, etc etc. In a nut shell, the type III body delivered what it promised; however, at the same time, there were some design trade-off that wasn't readily apparent to most of us at that time. In the course of introducing new movement range and capability, the new body became weaker, reports of broken shoulder joints started circulating the internet within months of the introduction of the new body. I have always handled my DD girls with great care and had so far been free of any incident until about a month ago when I was getting Sakuya ready for the California trip. I noticed some cracks started to develop when I pulled her arms out to change her dress... I was devastated, my most beloved Sakuya chan now has a cracked shoulder joint!!! It took me a few minutes to overcome my sadness, then I realize as a mechanical engineer with 16 years of working experience, I owe myself a full blown investigation! After taking a closer look at the shoulder joint, I finally realized why we are seeing cracked shoulders...
Posted on May 5, 2012 | 4 Comments | This post has 1,772 viewsEver since I was a little kid, I have been watching Tokusatsu shows such as Ultraman, Daitenjin 17, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, it was part of my youth and I still appreciate this genre until this very day. With the few years I have been in this hobby, I have developed a thing for group photo such as my August Four Riders. Fast forward to last September of last year when Volks announced the Type Moon X Dollfie Dream project, the thought had occurred to me that I have finally managed to assemble my very own Saber Sentai in Dollfie Dream form!
Posted on February 23, 2012 | 12 Comments | This post has 645 viewsIt's been 3 years since I started this little blog and I am happy to announce that it has just successfully managed to pass its 3rd birthday! Over the past 3 years I have most definitely came across more than a few liked minded comrades, so much that I even feel comfortable enough to traveled back to Hong Kong to attend Dollism Plus 6 (something I have put off for years!); but at the same time, I also ran into a few that don't get along with me or think of me as some sort of "elitist". As I mentioned in my 2nd anniversary post, I am establishing my own online presence as a way to meet new friends and most importantly, since I will never be able to please everyone nor would I ever pretend to do so; so it's fair to say that I would never try to befriend those who don't like the way I do things to start with.
Posted on January 15, 2012 | 21 Comments | This post has 1,554 viewsHave you ever wondered about printing your own specialized dakimakura/bed sheet/duvet cover? Have you been waiting for that special 2D girl to be printed large scale so you can decorate/itaize your room with but could not find any official product to buy? Well look no further because you can print whatever you want now as long as you have the image with proper resolution!
Posted on January 1, 2012 | 13 Comments | This post has 1,121 viewsHappy New Year everyone, time has gone by so quickly this past year it almost felt like I was just doing the 2011 greeting not that long ago! Looking back this past year I think I have made quite a few decisions that I have been putting off for a while such as moving my blog to its own domain, and traveling back to Hong Kong with my lovely Saber Lily chan to meet Dollfie Dream comrades that I met online such as Alodia Gosiengfiao, ATakKhoo, Coffeebugg, Gordonator, Hololo, Stepswalker&Applepuff, TonyBSD, Winterknight, Yui and etc.
Posted on December 24, 2011 | 16 Comments | This post has 2,056 viewsFor the past week or so I have been hard at work in preparing the next installment of the highly successful Peach Pai ぴ～ち☆パイ Temptation series~ It all started back in the first week of this month when I noticed Cool Cat Collection released their latest outfit through their website, those of you who are familiar with my habit, should know by now that I am a huge fan of their outfit collection such as their premier fashtion label Le chat de neige (more on that in a separate post). I wasted little time to place my order in hope that the outfit will arrive well ahead of Christmas to give me ample of time to compose this new photo shoot.
Posted on November 18, 2011 | 18 Comments | This post has 998 viewsFor the past year or so, I have been considering an upgrade to my existing Nikon D5000 since I believe I am at the point where I am approaching the limit on what I can do with the D5000. While my original intention was to upgrade to the next full frame release that was due to be announced this year (the rumored Nikon D800), but due to various reasons including Tohoku earthquake in March and the flooding in Thailand in July, the "rumored announcement" has been pushed back. After some careful consideration, I have concluded my best option right now was to acquire the readily available D7000 since I have already located a buyer to off load my D5000 to, the incremental cost to for upgrade from D5000 to D7000 wouldn't be that much; coincidentally, Nikon has been running a rebate promotion with their line of popular DSLRs, which made the decision to upgrade that much easier.
Posted on November 13, 2011 | 6 Comments | This post has 1,028 viewsIt has been about three months since my trip back to Hong Kong with Saber Lily Dollfie Dream, but I have finally got back into swing to do post processing on some of these photos within the past week or so. In a way I was a little disappointed at the fact that the weather wasn't very cooperating during the whole week I was there and I was not able to take as many outdoor photos as I had hoped. In any event, I must thank twitter friend TonyBSD to show me around various places and allowing me to borrow his tripods. While this trip didn't yield as many photos as I had hoped, but please allow me to share some of them here~
Posted on November 2, 2011 | 1 Comment | This post has 761 viewsIt was soon after I decided to go into the world of Dollfie Dream, I thought if there was one other hobby that will complement my Dollfie Dream collection, it would have to be photography! To me, while it is important to spend time dressing up Dollfie Dream girls with various costumes, it is just as important to be able to capture those precious moments to the best of my ability so I can enjoy them again. I tried to do what I could with the camera gear I had at the time, but It didn't take very long before I decided to purchase my first DSLR Nikon 5000. While it was probably my first serious attempt at digital photography, I have managed to created many fond memories with my Dollfie Dream daughters. It was the right camera for me at the time, and I have learned a lot during these past two years and achieved a good understanding of its potential and capabilities; however, I believe I have reached the point where I am due for an upgrade (as some of you who follow my twitter stream might have noticed). With all that said, I am going to dedicate this post to pay tribute to my D5000 to show case some of the photos I have taken with it ~
