This huge renovation effort actually started from a casual conversation with twitter comrades yunamon and cyberchaos when we were chatting about the subject of custom printed dakimakura; and before I knew it, I came upon an online shop that only does dakimakura, but also bed sheet and duvet cover!  I got so excited after conversing with the shop owner and decided to print something I have always wanted!  And if I were going to modernize my room with this fancy duvet cover, I better upgrade my furniture along with it… so that’s how it all started….  Today, I am going to share with you a sneak preview of my room renovation and my first custom printed project featuring Tony Taka’s illustration Kotone Ousaka!  I don’t know how to explain it but I had an overwhelming desire to make my bed properly when I woke up this morning LOL.

I personally own this Kotone Ousaka figure and the Tony Taka Collect 1 which featured this illustration, but there is no other merchandise featuring this absolutely gorgeous illustration… so when I heard there is a way to print this large scale, it took only seconds to decide on this!

To give you a sense of scale… their standard duvet cover measures 135cm x 200cm, a little on the small side for North American dimensions but I was about to fit my comforter in it just fine.

And it looks absolutely huge compare to my lovely Saber Lily Dollfie!  Guess what I am going to print next huh

Here is a closeup image, their printing resolution is 72 dpi but when blown up this massive scale their print quality is still absolutely top notch and can easily rival official printed product!  And you can bet I had a pleasant dream last night!  Originally, I was going to print a bed sheet but the shop owner told me that the Japanese standard bed sheet 145cm X 200cm doesn’t fit well with North American mattress (which is  a true statement cause the North American spring mattresses are much thicker unless you are sleeping on foam mattress), he recommended me to print duvet cover instead which is an excellent idea!

Due to improved figurine sculpture and technology, the figurine industry has been able to produce drastically better looking figures in recent years; and unfortunately, some of the older figures I have in my collection can no longer make the cut to stay in my collection (due to lack of space of course).  I thought about running a giveaway contest, but once again I am having a difficult time to justify running these contests because the cost of shipping these figures out are not cheap and the rate of participation of some of my previous giveaway contests aren’t necessarily very encouraging either.

And hopefully I would be able to do a proper review of the game during the upcoming holiday season~

Since I have resumed playing Shining Hearts PSP just recently; naturally the Red Tea Princess Rufina from Kotobukiya has also caught my attention..

The reason why she is referred to as Red Tea Princess has to do with the fact that literally every one of her mission in game were about finding ingredient for bread that goes well with her tea >.>;;;

And if it were up to me, I would love to have a Dollfie Dream Rufina to add on top of my Shining Hearts Collection~

Now if I start talking about Shining Hearts, one can’t possibly forget about Maxima can we?

This sexy Maxima Enfield actually came out a few months ago via Volks’s Chara Gumin line back in August (I just never got around to talk about it).  The Chara Gumin is actually a line of partially completed figures that are meant to give hobbyist a chance to build their own figure ~

And here is the parts that will allow you to assemble your own Maxima Enfield!  While I am not quite sure I am going to pick her up but this is definitely a neat idea~

Then again, if you ask me; I am looking forward to a “possible” future release of Maxima Enfield in Dollfie Dream form… since the information I have to-date suggested that Volks will continue to release licensed Dollfie Dream in the “Shining” universe.  I have always been a Tony Taka fan, despite some people feel that his characters always look kind of similar; but in my opinion, being different doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better.

While I am on a roll about the Tony Taka, if there was one figure that I regret about not getting; it has got to be Native Collet 1/6 PVC, and I have always thought about getting her after seeing her review in Tentacle Aramada.

Since she is kind of an older figure and there is no real easy way to obtain a Native figure once it’s been sold out… luckily I came across a fairly decent deal on Yahoo Japan the other day and since the price was good, it was extremely difficult to turn it down despite I have scaled down my budget for PVC figures.

Lastly, and perhaps the most unexpected pre-order I have made in recent memory…

Yes!  I have ordered a revoltech… better yet, I have ordered the Notoriously Hentai Woody from Toy Story.  Now I have never been a big fan of Toy Story but it is very difficult to ignore the ridiculously funny face that Woody is capable of…

It’s been over 2 years since Good Smile Company announced one of my all time favorite PVC figures Saber Lily -Distant Avalon-, and it was more or less the reason why this blog was created in the first place… as I have explained in numerous occasions that the reason I even stumbled into the blogging world was because I was looking for more information related to this gorgeous figure… then the next thing I knew, I stumbled onto Dannychoo.com (and coincidentally, Danny is running a Saber Lily figure giveaway, why not head over there to check it out?) then before I knew it…. I got myself into the dark side … I mean the world of Dollfie Dream… the rest is pretty much self-evident here.  ^^;

-Distant Avalon- vs. -Distant Avalon- @.@; which one will win??

Despite that fact that I have pretty much moved away from the PVC figure realm, this GSC version of the Saber Lily figure is still very much one of my most favorite figures of all time.  Just a few weeks ago I was actually looking to see what the market price is for this gorgeous figure, and not surprisingly, it was selling for more than a few times of its original retail value… I am really glad to see GSC had decided to re-issue this gorgeous figure for those who missed out on the initial batch!  Pre-order is accepted in any of your favorite online retailers like Hobby Search and etc.  I guess this Saber Lily figure reissue reminded me why I got into the blogging in the first place ^^;

And while I was browsing around, I can’t help but noticed this incredibly sexy Super Sonico Gothic Maid ver. figure from Gift, and boy did my heart skip a beat when I saw this figure!

I am actually seriously considering pre-ordering this figure ^.^n, pre-order has just been open and I think it’s scheduled for release in March 2012?Similar Posts:

I have never drank or had the desire to try Dr.Pepper before but here I am with a bottle of it.  I can’t say I really like it but I got to give it a try just to say I did it.

I think I talked about it in my last blog post on Steins;Gate, I don’t think Kurisu isn’t particularly pretty by my own standard, but she made up the differences with everything else she had in her, including her inability to hide her own tsundere tendency and borderline breaking the fourth wall by telling the audience how much she dislike her tusn-tsun half being betrayed by the dere-dere half.

I am quite happy that I managed to get this Kurisu figure, but I would much rather have a Kurisu Dollfie Dream instead… Volks, are you listening?

On the other hand, we are really approaching the climax of the Steins;Gate animated series, with episode 22 giving us what Kurisu fan really wanted!

With only 2 episodes to go, Okabe must find a way to save his love interest and stop World War III, the way they pull this off after the credit was really over the top too.  I am really looking forward to the next episode which will presumably answer some of the unexplained scenes from episode 1.

However, there is just this dialogue here I cannot make head or tail out of it.  Mayuri never talked like this in the whole series!! What is she really saying here?  Hopefully we will get some answers on that too.  I haven’t been truly excited about some of the newer anime in recent seasons, but Steins;Gate really stands out from the pack for me, especially with most of the industry going with the moe trend, it’s really refreshing to see a non-moe inspiring anime getting as much attention as it has so far.  It proves to me that truly good story can still be successful without relying on moe, which makes me happy.

Those of you who are familiar with my habit, this should come as a no surprise to you that I am preparing to play the game ^^;  Hopefully I would be able to write my impression of it someday~Similar Posts:

I really didn’t know what to expect from Steins;Gate but I knew I kind of want to try it out since I found their promotional images suitable to my taste; let me be honest here, I was just mostly attracted to Kurisu in the first place.  It was rather confusing in the first couple of episodes and it is certainly not the average moe anime you usually find in the past couple of seasons; I personally found the sci-fi setting of this plot really worked… then before I knew it, I was already searching all over the web looking for more images of Kurisu.

I normally don’t approve the use of neko ears just for the sake of it, but I approve of this Neko Kurisu

And stumbling on this extremely hot illustration of Kurisu in this highly nosebleed inducing pose only added more fuel to the fire!

The moment I lay my eyes on this Kurisu figure I knew I want her, she just look like an extremely cool figure with all the gears she is supposedly sitting on.  While it has almost been a year since she was released, it didn’t take too long for me to find an online store that has inventory of her, let’s hope that store comes through   Now, can I ask for a Kurisu DD please   Volks, are you listening here?
