Wonder Festival 2012 Winter

Normally Wonder Festival isn’t something I would keep track of or even follow closely in real time, however since I caught a glimpse of a Tony Taka inspired Megurine Luka in my google+ stream a few days ago, I decided that I want to see how this figure turns out.  Now, while I have never been a Vocaloid fan per say, but I have always have taken an interest in Luka since her character design is very much inline with my taste; it has been frustrating to see all these merchandises and figures for Miku but there has yet to be one decent figure of Luka!  And just an hour before the official opening of Wonder Fest, I noticed the twitter handle of Azone Doll leaked a photo that closely resemble one of my favorite tsundere scientist Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate!  And with those two agendas in place, I decided to follow the hashtag #wf2012w in my tweetdeck and let the massive flow of information come in!  It’s been a day since the event and I don’t want to get into too much details here since there are plenty of other sites out there filled with coverage of the event already; so instead, I am just going to talk about a few of the figures that caught my attention~

Now, a Megurine Luka based on Tony Taka’s illustration, that’s a figure I can actually look forward to!  For the longest time I have shy away from PVC figures but the recent room renovation and cleanup made me took a close hard look at my figure collection and decide what I wanted to keep and what I want to clean out… this exercise gave me the opportunity to rediscover the beauty of some of the really well made figures.  Given the opportunity, I would still pick a Dollfie Dream to represent my favorite characters, but now I think I can at least manage to reserve a corner of my heart to keep this regular scaled figures collection growing.

Here is another look of this beautiful figure, and it is definitely worth waiting for!  I am sure the Luka fans out there would be satisfied, myself included~

And my other objective, which was to verify that Azone is indeed releasing my favorite tsundere scientist ….

And I turned out to be right on the money!  Thanks to twitter and blogging comrade taitanno for bringing us pictures from the Azone booth.

Personally, I have never been a huge fan of the Azone line of Doll due to their painted eyes… but it would be difficult to resist the temptation to get an officially endorsed Kurisu Makise costume…

I can’t say I am too happy with the face…. but I can always put the costume on a DDS body or something….

and Azone didn’t stop there!  Looks like they are about to follow Volks’ footsteps to get into the Fate/stay night franchise!  This servant Saber is looking pretty close to the original design!

With this year being the 10th anniversary of Sakura Taisen, it come as no surprises that we are seeing a Sakura Shinguji nendo!  It is pretty sad that the figurine technology 10 years ago would never be able to do justice for Sakura, but at least we are getting a 2nd swing at it now!  With Sakura Taisen Dollfie Dream project announced late last year, I wonder if it is a good idea to get this nendo for some pics :3

While I have a very difficult time tolerating the cruel and bullying personalty of Yozora in Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, which I never quite finish the series, I have to say this figure is really well designed~  I may perhaps someday finish the series, but who knows~

It is however, reassuring to see that Good Smile Company is working on a Sena figure.

Seems like Kotobukiya is getting their version of Sena Kashiwazaki ready as well~  Looking pretty good from this image here

I have heard plenty of horror story of Kotobukiya’s model kit (HoiHoiSan), and while this Saber Lily is tempting, I will have to wait for more information before making a buying decision here.

And Kos-Mos… must watch out for more information for sure now.

Sort of surprised to see a Kurama (蔵馬) figure here as YuYu Hakusho is a pretty old series by today’s standard… but it is still one of my favorite anime from the 90s~

Hiei (飛影) is arguably the most popular character in the series, not surprised to see him turned into figure instead of the series’ protagonist Urameshi Yusuke~

And the three main characters from Fate/Zero in figma form~

I placed an order for the Fate/Extra CCC Virgin Bride Limited Edition box set, so it’s good to be able to take a peek on the bonus figure~

Very interesting to see the Tekkaman Blade and Evil Figma, looks really well made too!

while I am quite a Kureha fan myself, but I am not sure if I want this one….

I spent a little time following Guilty Crown but I never quite get to like Inori Yuzuriha very much, perhaps due to her extremely slim figure (not meaty enough for me LOL)

Inori Yuzuriha will be coming out as Nendoroid as well….

Speaking of Nendoroid, here is Sasara’s entry with her Aquapazza costume… I really hope they come out with a scaled figure instead….

With Maxima being one of the main heroines from the upcoming Shining Blade PSP game, again, no surprise to see her figure here >.>;

Last but not least, there will always been more merchandise from the “Shining” franchise to bleed our wallet dry!
