I was a bit later than usual before I got to watch the new episode of Fortune Arterial this week due to a prior commitment to hang out with a bunch of old colleagues, but boy, was I in for a surprise when I finally watch it a few hours ago! Up until last week, I was fairly positive that we were on track to reach the grand finale following the Erika true route… However, the alteration to the story in the most recent episode suggest that we might be in fact heading for a completely new ending!
or combination of a couple things which I cannot disclose at this point or risk spoiling a very crucial part of the story!
In any event, allow me to cut myself off again and switch over the memorable scene sharing :3, there are a ton of nice scenes in this episode!
In the last episode, we talked about how Erika and Kohei are in charge of organizing the Cultural Fair. Looks like the preparation is now in full force~
And of course, while everyone is busy preparing for the Cultural fair, Iori just has to mess around a bit~
And just while everything seemed to be progressing as usual…
Erika was summoned…..

A relatively minor secret that was only explained in the Kiriha arc of the original visual novel, this black cat, which has already shown up in more than a few occasions along the story, is in fact, a manifestation of Kaya! Erika’s mother~
That’s one of the major reason why Kiriha seems to subconsciously like to interact with the black cat, because she could sense Kaya’s presence close to her

It has already been mentioned in last episode that Erika doesn’t necessarily get along with her mother Kaya because Erika never really acted like a Vampire like Kaya expected. So this meeting between mother and daughter was bounded to be tense!
Meanwhile Kiriha seemed to be listening into the conversation, something that wasn’t in the original plot, I am not exactly sure if she would add any contribution at this point~
Though Erika seemed rather confident at the time that she would not give in to Kaya’s demand~
On the other hand, Iori and Kanade teamed up to plan a summer outing for the group~
At the ocean~
And firework afterward~
Although Shiro and Sei could only join them later on with the firework due to their family obligation~
After her meeting with Kaya, Erika obviously tried to put forth her best effort to live like a human being, if only for one day only…..
And of course, we are treated some some lovely images of the FA girls in the swimsuits~

But when it seemed like everything was proceeding normally….

Erika’s vampire instinct struck again….
And Iori knew exactly what’s happening….
And to make up for the lack of appearance of Kiriha and Shiro on the beach, we can find comfort that their swimsuit images are at least available during the commercial …
By the end of the day, Erika was already approaching her limit….
It was obvious that Iori wanted Kohei to be more involved with Erika… although his true agenda hasn’t really been revealed yet…
After the sunset, Erika was still struggling with herself..
And all the girls change into Yukata for the firework display~

However, the more feeling Erika has for Kohei, the worst it get for Erika…
And on top of that, she still tried to put up a brave face
Although it was clear to Iori that Erika wouldn’t last much longer….
So when everyone was focusing on the firework….
Iori pretended to just give everyone a push, while in fact he only wanted to push Kohei towards Erika.
Now, I am sure it was pretty obvious by this time that Iori intended to push Erika towards the point of breaking, although I am not 100% sure if his agenda is the same one he had in the visual novel yet. So we will have to wait and see!
Fearing the worst
Erika sneaked away from the group…
It didn’t take long before Kohei was missing from the group and soon began looking for her.
Only to find Erika already lying on the ground …..
When Erika realized Kohei had found her…
She tried to get away….
However, seeing what has happened to Erika, Kohei wasn’t just going to let her go…

As a person comment, it has always somewhat bothered me in the original visual novel that Erika was overly stubborn in her way of handling her relationship with Kohei….
And after seeing that Erika could no longer contain herself….
Kohei decided to take Erika in his arms….

In what I would refer to as the biggest departure from the “True Route” story line yet… since Erika never did suck blood directly out of Kohei in the “True Route”, however there was a scene where Erika was close to point of turning Kohei into her servant… I suppose this is a fair compromise to emphasis the point that Erika was at the point of breaking and could no longer contain herself from her vampire instinct. In the original visual novel, there were more time to emphasis the amount of struggle Erika had to endure, I suppose it would get a little dragging if they did the same thing in the anime. I will review this particular segment again since I have an idea what they are trying to do and for the sake of preserving the dramatic moments, I think I need to shut up right here!
While I would usually through a little speculation at this point, but since we are relatively close to the end and since we are right in the middle of some uncharted territory, so while I have a good idea where they might be taking this, I have to refrain myself from speaking too much as I can easily ruin some good dramatic moments.

Enjoyed this episode too and am glad the series is keeping to a good level, manages to keep me curious each time how things will end and work out.
The latest twist is keeping me at the edge of the seat too… although the alteration is probably done for the right reason. As I said before, I always felt Erika was too stubborn for her own well being at times…. I do have a good idea where they plan to take this and will explain things in more details next week~
The series is getting very interesting.
I have been looking forward to this series and it has been worth watching.
