I rarely talk about Anime I am following because I usually don’t follow anything until afterward, unless there is a compelling reason that I must watch something… However, after reading blogsphere comrade Snark’s review on The Sacred Black Smith, I felt compelled to research on this series further, for the detail review provided by yours truly, please go directly to Taikutsu Remedy for the funny yet insightful review on The Sacred Blacksmith 聖剣の刀鍛冶.
So, why am I looking at this so called The Sacred Blacksmith? The anime looks pretty weak at this point… The reason is simple, while I rarely talk about it, I do in fact have a maid/waitress uniform bias (or fetish, whatever you choose to call it!).
While the animation adaption has so far been less than spectacular, but I find the manga version to be quite inline with my taste.

I am not putting high hope in this series, but at least I am getting my fix for maid + sword, which works for me!
And of course, the other series I am planning to follow is none other than Queen’s Blade 2nd Season. In contrary to popular believe, I do enjoy Queen’s Blade for what it is worth to me. And in response to Snark’s “I approve of Queen’s Blade” post, I feel that I need to speak up as well, us brothers need to stand united.
Ok, I do get turned off by oversized boobage and acid milk but Melona is already stoned so it’s unlikely that I got to put up with her for much if at all. And on top of that, more maid uniform fixes for me!
And of course, I have already pre-ordered one of the best looking Queen’s Blade Airi to-date

i watched this and like Cecily but it wasnt too great, im loving these manga illustrations though ^^
i was so hyped for the Queens Blade anime as i love me some oppai, but the series sometimes hurt to watch that i now dont keep up with it anymore. lol maid fixation is good, im surprised you didnt pick up the Airi Dollfie or at least hunt down that lovely maid outfit!
So far the manga illustrations > anime adaptation, which happens quite often anyway.
QB can be ridiculous sometimes… and while yes, I wanted Airi’s maid outfit, she would be a decent addition but looking at my rapidly growing family of daughters, I am coming up on the 9th with Natsuki…; though with Airi being a witch, and suck life energy out of people by doing mouth to mouth, I think I can introduce A LOT of ecchi stuff to Dollfie Dream Theater just having Airi being mischievous. Airi still command a fairly high price, I am hoping she would dip into the 70k yen before considering making a move for her.
I saw a few scenes of “The Sacred Blacksmith”, looks ok but nothing spectacular. Might have to check it out in detail.
Watch “Queen’s Blade”? Me? Why I’d never dare! <__>
Reviewed the first season and did the first two episodes of the second season as well. Hope my episode reviews of it were objective and unbiased. Never put in any explicit images and always tried to judge it for what it is without ever bashing it (I don’t like bashing any series).
Though in terms of personal preference, I prefer more implicit ecchi and comedic fluff like “Koihime Musou” over “Queen’s Blade”. But I still watch both.
I agree that The Sacred Blacksmith doesn’t look anything spectacular, but the Maid+Knight fetish inside of me drove me to dug deeper into the series. While it’s still a stretch to call it a must watch series but the manga I have read so far suggested there are plenty of implicit ecchi and comedic stuff, which I do enjoy, Koihime Musou has the implicit quality but their characters design lean heavily on the Loli side which isn’t exactly my preference, but I don’t dislike it. If I wanted explicit ecchi stuff why don’t I just go for 18+ stuff, I mean I am like over 35; I can watch whatever I want.
I rarely bash anything myself, but I just felt extremely frustrated by the overwhelming acceptance of K-On!
QB can be ridiculous sometimes, just watched 2nd episode last night and I can’t help but facepalm on the fight between Tomoe and Melpha, holy poses… wtf… but even still, QB still has a story, which in my book is better than a series without a definitely objective or story behind it.
All men (and women) should watch Queen’s Blade.
And yes, the manga scans of Sacred Blacksmith are pretty sweet. Now all we need is for Cecily to man up.
Sacred Blacksmith started off rather silly for now, and occasional fan service from Cecily is not going to be enough to pull the show through. In any event, Cecily either need to man up or put out. However, based on my research so far, the decision to animate Sacred Blacksmith was based on the popularity of its light novel, so I have reasons to believe there will be some kind of story to follow. Yeah, the manga scans are pretty good, I think I am going to follow that, but like all anime that moves ahead of the manga, they might make up some filler material in between actual story, which may be good or bad depending on the direction they are taking with the filler, and let’s hope they don’t take the “senseless moe” approach, but based on what we know so far, it’s unlikely to take that route.

I want to see more screen time for Airi.
I like Cecily’s outfit on the volume 6 cover; funny how her armor seems to be not quite as form-fitting in the manga as in the anime. I haven’t watched the show yet but I intend to; between this and Kampfer and Queen’s Blade and that one series that looks like DearS with a buxom angel instead of an alien, it looks like this is going to be a good season for fan service.

Perhaps the animation has adopted a more fan service appeal strategy, but it doesn’t bother me one way or another. I am somewhat interested in Kampfer but I have to see what approach they take with that show. Some shows just totally turn me off but I don’t know how to properly explain it without calling names.
Cecily looks fine for now, not exactly high quality bishoujo but she has the maid outfit and sword going so it boosted her appeal a bit. Say “Yes” to QB, although some parts of it still give me the creeps.
