Now that I got my main computer back in order, it’s time to catch up on the latest release on the eroge game scene! I was going to start playing with the new Illusion Soft game @HomeMate today, but I was distracted by a little application call DesktopMate Esk that came with the game. Very nice for Illusion to package one of their most popular heroines Esk who debuted in their Des Blood 4 ~Lost Alone~ 3D adventure game a few years ago. Ever since then, almost every other game Illusion released would inevitably come with some sort of Esk costume, like Sexy Beach 3, Artificial Girl 3, etc. Why Esk you say? Well, she is a blonde twintails, have cute face, green eyes, etc…. I don’t know, but I have always taken a liking in Esk too. Enough to distract me to actually play @HomeMate lol.
There are two modes to the DesktopMate, a viewer mode and a move mode.
In the viewer mode, you are presented with a large size Esk that will stand in the middle of your screen. You can poke her in different places to see her reaction like this:
There is also a separate mode call move mode, where a smaller moving Esk will pop up on your screen.
She will move around your screen (and respond to your mouse click sometime, not sure at this point) and do a little dance and the large Esk will follow sometimes.
I am tempted to leave her on the whole time, but unfortunately, DesktopMate do not support dual screen; I have to deactivate my side panel in order for it to work…. Another thing about DesktopMate is that it does a check and see if @HomeMate is installed before it can work, though I believe there is a way to get around it… may be…
Anyway, enough distraction for now, hopefully, I will be able to bring some news about @HomeMate for real next time lol..

haha Esk looks pretty cool, if it’s enough to distract you from playing the game especially. I could use a desktop buddy right about now ^^
Yup, DesktopMate is very cool and I have always like a little tsundere desktop buddy, too bad she doesn’t work on dual screen setup. I believe her code has already been broken so I am pretty sure one could run the the desktopmate while bypassing the game check, or alternatively, you could also check out my first impression of the game and see if it’s right for you
