It’s been almost a month now since I started this Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro na Visual Novel marathon run project, it’s finally coming close to an end. I have just completed Cynthia Marguerite’s arc and the final arc Moonlight and & Earthlight is finally opened to me.
Moonlight Cradle takes on a completely different approach from the original game, I have to clear everyone before Feena’s after story is open to me. All in all, Moonlight Cradle is very short and get to the point since the story and setting is basically the same as the original game. But before I talk about anything else, I need to give the Marguerite Sisters an honorable mention.
I guess I wasn’t prepared for sad endings, I felt a little sad when I finished Lease/Wreathlit/Fiacca’s ending, but not until I began Cynthia’s arc do I truly understand what’s really going on. The older sister Fiacca, transformed herself into a data bank and lived on as memory for the past 700 years to watch over humankind to help preserve peace and the Lost Techology; the younger sister Cynthia, in order to protect the dimensional portal she invented, sealed herself in the portal terminal (where time does not flow) so her invention couldn’t be used in the previous war. I am quite easily moved by this self-sacrificial acts, especially those that last hundreds of years with no end in sight, yet they had to do it because it’s the right thing to do (Think Gunbuster OVA3). If anything else, I would really like to see a Cynthia figure so I can keep her in my collection, only then would I be able to neutralize the sadness I felt when I saw her ending. I liked her story but at the same time, I don’t necessarily like the sad ending. It’s a good thing that I can start Feena’s final arc right the way; otherwise, I would be upset for the rest of the night.
Anyway, to break off from the visual novel for a bit. Tonight was suppose to be the night I meet my adopted daughter (dollfie) but all I got was this dreaded note from the post office.
Alas, that just meet I need to go to the post office first thing in the morning! Alright, I should go back to finish Feena’s final arc before it’s too late.

Augh yeah… I hate ending the night with a sad ending, even if it isn’t a bad ending. I was playing Yume Miru Kusuri and got a bad ending at 2 AM… but I retraced my step and got a good ending to end my night, at 4 AM >.>
Good Gunbuster reference there ^_^
It’s a sad ending but it’s the right ending I presume. Cynthia is quite cute too, not a tsundere, but she has a temper, like to use suggestive language and a stubborn scientist but inside she is a girl that was scared to be alone but she had to seal herself inside the dimensional portal so the military couldn’t use it for war. The Marguerite sisters make a vow together that they will prevent their invention to be used in a war again (their father’s invention was used in the war and caused massive damaged to both sides). I won’t spoil it more than this for now, if you are interested in reading the whole thing, I might write it up. After all, I do want to write it up so I can bring her heroic story to light.
Sounds like quite a story. Didn’t realize there was a serious war story going on in the background. I’ll be reading if you write it
I might just do that since her story is kind of short.

Haven’t played the game, but I can’t see why they couldn’t just outright destroy the machine they invented. Stories wherein someone sacrifices themselves to protect others are dramatic and sad. But in real life, I don’t approve of sacrifice.
Who can you possibly save if you die first?
Greetings Wavehawk, thank you for stopping by~

Ahhh, the ending for Cynthia, it didn’t exactly sit well with me either but it was discussed in game at length as well, the “machine” was meant for the benefit of mankind because it would have taken many more years to redevelop something of that scale. Cynthia is a scientist at heart and she considered it was her duty to pass on the legacy when mankind is ready for it once again. The benefit of many out-weight the benefit of the one? The stories for both Marguerite sisters are sad, I wished something better for them. I wish there will be some sort of an alternate endings for them.
As for in real life though, people don’t generally sacrifice themselves for the benefit of others. However, the few that managed to do it often time can inspire people to move in the right direction.
